STUDY PROGRAMMES OF INDIRA GANDHI NATIONAL OPEN UNIVERSITY

The International Institute of Adult and Lifelong Education (IIALE) has been recognized as a Study Centre (Centre Code: 29049P) of Indira Gandhi National Open University ( IGNOU ) for the M.A; Post Graduate Diploma and Certificate Programmes in Adult Education. The Institute will facilitate the enrolment of students and provide study materials and access to the specialised library. Besides they will be given academic support and guidance by the faculty membersof the Institute and the panel of empanelled counsellors viz; Professor Rajesh,Dr.Mandakini Pant, Dr.Bani Bora, Dr.A.Mathew, Dr.Mohan Kumar ,Dr. Madan Singh and Professor S. Y. Shah. The activities of the studycenter is coordinated by the Programme Incharge –Ms. KalpanaKaushik.The study Center will be open on all the working days.

In order to popularize Post-Graduate Diploma in Adult Education (PGDAE) and Master of Arts in Adult Education (MAAE) offered by Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and encourage the students to enroll in the programmes, the UNESCO Institute of Lifelong Learning (UIL) will be offering five scholarships in the year 2016. Those students who appear in June Term End Examination (TEE) 2016 for PGDAE or first year of MAAE and successfully complete PGDAE or first year MAAE are eligible to apply for the scholarship. Only top five students who scored the highest Grade will be considered for award of the scholarship. The scholarship amount will be equal to the programme fee of Rs.6000/- (Rupees six thousand only) paid by them to IGNOU. The scholarship will be administered by the International Institute of Adult and Lifelong Education (IIALE), New Delhi. A committee consisting of the Chancellor, Director of IIALE and the Programme Coordinator, PGDAE/MAAE, IGNOU will review the applications and make recommendation for the scholarship. Interested students may apply by e-mail to the Director of IIALE (drsyshah@gmail.com) with a scanned copy of the Grade Sheet not later than August 25, 2016. The scholarships will be disbursed on the International Literacy Day - September 8, 2016.
 

VISITING SCHOLAR AWARDS TO DOCTORAL STUDENTS

International Institute of Adult and Lifelong Education, New Delhi established by the Indian Adult Education Association in 2002 (www.iiale.org) has been striving to promote adult education as a field of practice and discipline of study through a variety of innovative programmes, researches, publications and collaborations with national and international universities. Promotion of research being an important mandate of the Institute, it is proposed to encourage young scholars to undertake quality researches and publications through a specially designed programme of Visiting Scholar Award. The main purpose of the Award is to provide an opportunity to the doctoral students to consult and collect data from the vast collection of adult education publications- books, documents, theses, research and evaluation studies and journals available at the Amaranth Jha Library of the Association and also benefit from the presentation and discussion of their individual research topics with the faculty of the Institute. A maximum of fifteen awards will be offered during the year 2016. These awards will be open to all the bonafide doctoral students of Indian universities. The selected scholars will be provided a lumpsum amount of Rs.10,000/- (rupees ten thousand only) to cover travel and other sundry expenses besides free accommodation on sharing basis for seven days at the IAEA Guest House alongwith food. Delhi based candidates will be paid Rs.2500/- (rupees two thousand five hundred only) @ Rs. 500/- per day for five days to cover local travel. Selected scholars will be intimated by the end of August 2016. The programme will be held in the Conference Hall of the Institute in the month of October, 2016.
 
 

SCHOLAR IN RESIDENCE PROGRAMME.

The International Institute of Adult and Lifelong Education has a provision to invite eminent academicians to spend a maximum of six months as a Scholar in Residence to conduct research on a topic of mutual interest. The scholar will be given free accommodation at the IAEA Guest House, subsistence allowance and travel subsidy. Prof.Asoke Bhattacharya, former Director, Department of Adult, Continuing Education and Extension, University of Jadavpur, West Bengal and former Director& CEO, RoopkalaKendro, Film and Social Communication Institute, Kolkata has been nominated as a Scholar in Residence for a period of six months. The topic chosen for his research is “People’s Knowldege and People’s Power”.

COURSES :
The Institute will have provision to offer two types of courses.
1. Short term courses ranging from 3-21 days,
2. Long term courses of 3 months to 3 years duration viz.
Certificate, Diploma, Degree and Doctorate.

SHORT TERM COURSES :
(i) Research Methodology Course (7 days)
(ii) Recent Developments in the Field of Adult and Lifelong Education : National and International Perspective. (3 days)
(iii) Policy Implications of New Researches and Evaluations. (3 days)
(iv) Residential Refresher Courses for the Junior faculty members of universities and project/field NSS officers. (21 days)

LONG-TERM COURSES :
Certificate , Diploma , Degree and Doctoral Programmes :
The Institute will offer a number of select courses of recognized universities in India and abroad through direct teaching and Open Distance Learning mode. These programmes will commence in a phased manner.

TRANING & CONFERENCES :

Keeping in view the changes in adult continuing/lifelong education policy and programmes, the Institute will design and offer different types of training programmes for field functionaries. To begin with an attempt will be made to design a programme for grassroots level functionaries, specially Preraks (facilitators) through Open Distance Learning in collaboration with the Institutions of open education, especially National Institute of Open Schooling and Indira Gandhi National Open University.

In due course, the institute will develop E-training modules for the training of adult education functionaries in India and other developing countries.

Apart from organizing an annual conference and Professor James Draper Memorial Lecture, the Institute will also organize, thematic national and international seminars, workshops, round tables and bi-monthly discussion forums on select topics.
